"One thing I didn't mention"

I chose to do a Christmas themed image for the final project because I love the Christmas season. to create this, I googled images of a Christmas scene as well as images that depict tradition for me. I chose such images because every year my family and I make tons of chocolate covered pretzel sticks, cookies, and a gingerbread house. It is also tradition to watch the movies A Christmas Story and Elf. Once I picked the images, I opened the background image in illustrator and created the title and the christmas lights using the type on path, line and live paint tool. I then opened the other pictures in photoshop to erase the unwanted portions, then placing them on the illustrator file completing my project.

Text as a Graphic Element

For this project, I decided to make a music themed image. For all of my life, music has been one of my passions, both playing and listening to it. I chose to place images of the instruments that I play, and a sound board into the letters spelling out "music" on top of the antique sheet music since I started out learning classical music. All of the images were found off the Internet, with the exception of the bass in the "S" which my boyfriend took and edited. To achieve this look, I did each letter separately in their own layer, converting them to outlines, then using the clipping mask option to crop them into the letters. I tried to keep a balance of color by positioning the grey toned images at both ends and the colored one in the middle.

Childhood Memory

One of my first childhood memories is playing in a little kiddie pool with my cousin at my grandparents house, and after we went "swimming we would snack on Nutty Bars. To creat this image, I found a scene that resembled my grandparents backyard, then a image of little kids at a pool. I edited the cartoon kids in Photoshop then placed it onto the Illustrator version. Once in Illustrator, I placed a Nutty Bar in the girls hand and placed the box on the ground. I also drew in the splashes and added the childish writing with the paintbrush tool.

week one

For the first project, I googled my name to find images that represent me. I chose the cassette tape and the guitar because I love music; it has always been a large part of my life. When I created this image, I didn't really know what I was doing with photoshop, so it didn't turn out the way that I had imagined it would. Honestly I'm not sure what tools I used to create this.

Kayaking Montage

Montage Project:
Kayaking is an activity that my family and I have gotten into this past summer and greatly enjoy. To me, kayaking is a relaxing experience that allows for family bonding as well as an escape from the chaos of everyday life
I created this image by layering a transparent photo of the river with over banking trees ontop of the image of the two kayaks on shore. I then created a mirrored pattern along the bottom using a photo of lined up paddles. Once the pattern was completed, I used the eraser tool to take to sky out of the image leaving just the paddles emerging into the other two images.

This was the editing project to create an image completely different from the original. I had no idea what to do with photoshop at this point so I just changed the filter and colors until it looked really trippy.
